電影《靈魂急轉彎》影評：平凡亦英雄，平凡亦偉大

Let’s first take a a look at the character settings of the movie, John, a man who dreams to be a piano player, ends up with teaching in a middle school.

22,a soul that has never got the earth pass for thousands of years.Two typical life failure models(losers), the common settings of a Disney movie.

In order to gain a profound understanding of the movie, we need to understand the background settings of the story, it’s said that after people died, you soul will disconnect from your body and goes to the great beyond.

But was the great before? Well, it’s the place where the story take place, it’s called the soul institution, where souls get their personalities and be sent to earth to begin their life.

John met 22 accidentally, 22 hates everything on earth, in another word, her life doesn’t have a purpose.Many celebrities have served as her mentor, but they all fail to let 22 have the spark. This is actually lay the groundwork for the ending.

22 and John begin a adventure to help John get back to his body. This is where the turn of the plot take place, 22 becomes John, and John becomes a cat.

It’s working in two ways, first, it’s a ridiculous accident, making it more like an adventure,and amuse the audience. Second, and more importantly, 22 got a chance to live a day like a normal human.

On their way to switch bodies, 22 experience a lot of things that she has never experienced before.First ,a piece of pizza, she feels good when enjoying the pizza, then, a little girl from John’s class came by, and told John that she wanted to quit.

22 totally agreed with her idea, but when she saw the girl played the instrument totally immersed in. She told her that she should keep working on it. On the subway, 22 got shouted by a man.

OK, you may finding me introducing all this into detail, this is for a reason, because all these details contribute to the main theme. All the plots is accompanied by the mind state change by both of our two main characters.

It’s a two line structure, because 22 is the one driving the body, so she made a lot of mistakes which forces John to meet the very normal people in his normal daily life, and ends up having a completely different understanding of them.

Plot line, pizza to broken pants to subway to a leaf. Soul line, John eliminates the emotional gap between him and his mother, having a new understanding of the barber.

22, changed her mind about earth, she finds every little happiness makes her feel happy. Here also forms a contrast, when the girl came by, John shows no patience, but 22 comforted the girl.

At the barber, 22 makes all the people there become his audience, and know that the barber initially doesn’t want to be a barber. John says all the mean words about subway, but 22 didn’t find it annoying at all.

The adventure changes both of them. Another turn takes place when 22 throws her earth pass to John to let him perform on the concert, but after the dream comes true. John realizes something is missing.

He carefully recall the day spent with 22, those pieces of objects, to John, they are junk, but to 22, they are precious. Another very thought provoking setting here is that the so called immersed state below are the monsters whose soul is lost.

When you like what you are doing,it’s a good thing, but you can’t be too obsessed with it, you soul will be lost. You are disconnecting from your life because of chasing the goal blindly.

At that moment, John understands that 22 doesn’t need a goal to be happy, she’s happy with normal daily lives. But when John made up his mind to return the earth pass, 22 is already lost.

Now if you still remember the celebrities that I mentioned above, all these celebrities along with John, they all have a purpose, but 22 doesn’t have one, so she thinks she’s not good enough to have a life.

The movie’s main character is actually 22 instead of John, an exception,typical American culture, a weird individual who’s different form others.

The petal woke her up, a petal may seem like nothing, but 22 is someone who appreciates every little thing, every little beauty in life, from pizza to lollipop to a needle.

When she dives to earth, John accompanied her because she’s still afraid, this moment is what we call the touching scene. 22 may not be a great person like president, scientist etc. But she’s a good person who warms others with her optimistic attitude.

You don’t need to a purpose for living, you just need to enjoy every moment of your life, and that’s enough for a soul to begin his life journey.

Every soul is unique, 22 may be a normal person, but with the kindness in her heart to warm others, who can say that she’s not a great person?

《靈魂急轉彎》改進意見

首先，我承認這部電影很完美，但也不是沒有遺憾。個人認為這部電影缺少了愛情的因素， 22號 和男主應該是般配的。兩個人的性格剛好可以中和一下，一個拼命追求理想，一個完全沒有理想。特別是男主拉著22號一起掉向地球時的情景，非常的暖心和感人。

可以稍微改變一下最後的情節，增加一個小彩蛋：男主被給與再活一次的機會後，應該是重新投胎變為一個嬰兒，而不是他原本的身軀（這裡我認為原本的劇情有點問題）。然後此時還有一個嬰兒同時出生，正是22號。然後結束，這樣也為下一步打好了鋪墊，同時也給與了兩人在一起的可能。
